The Lowry at Salford Quays

And here is the proof. Elaine was inspired by seeing Lowry's work and admitted that she hadn't been attracted to him before.

  2. Lowry seems to have been from a working class background like me. He seemed like a person out of place and time and I often feel like that. He struggled with social relationships - like me. He was obsessively independent and despite all of this seemed to have a sense of fun. O - and unfashionable.

  4. Lowry hasn't influenced my paintings - but all of the above things that I share with him may have. His response to the way he felt seemed to be to live alone and lock himself away from the world and paint. In a sense, mine is much less easy - I engage with people, in fact am probably seen as quite sociable. But...
